State University reception delights new students audience
The old students and faculty hosted a reception for new students at the State University. About 150 students and 10 faculty members attended. The event featured a gymnasium program with piano solos by Grenhood of Anaconda and a chorus solo by Olat Bye, plus a piano duet by Mrs. Whitaker and M. Greenwood. Afterward, refreshments were served in Professor Elrod’s rooms. Chief Walling reported from Spokane on the Pacific Coast Fire Chiefs meeting, praising the gathering and city official participation. A colored club in Missoula, led by King Johnson, was noted amid broader state license issues. F.P. Pierce and George Nink attended the State Liquor Dealers Association in Butte. Pierce was named permanent secretary and joined the executive committee. An October 10 opening is planned for the D. J. Donahue store in Missoula, highlighting interior work and stock.
