Smelter prospects loom in Livingston as talks begin
Al Ware B Gay of Montana Coal & Coke visited Livingston meeting business leaders to gauge ore supply and guaranteed daily tonnage for a potential smelter. If 100 tons daily can be assured and capital available, construction could start by fall near Livingston, leveraging local water power and fuel to attract investment. A surge of ore shipments from Montana, Colorado, and Idaho supports the plan.
