Col Funge, a Utah pioneer, and J B Sovereign, ex Idaho editor, arrived in Butte after travels and discuss Wardner troubles. Fergus F Kelly, Montanan traveler, returns from Honolulu praising the city and noting locals and business prospects amid sugar fortunes. a shooting medal contest is reported with Jaeger and McGowan excelling.
The courthouse boys defeated the clerks 16 to 6 in a ball game before a large crowd. Lineups feature Normoyle and Gleason behind the plate and Mahoney at short for Court House while Wiright Brennan Merkle and Trenary anchor the Clerks. Umpires were Dave Hopkins and Tom Marr.
The Butte Red and Gun club hosted a large crowd for a weekly coursing event. Cana van served as judge and Ben Corrin as slipper. dogs performed well with Bash Adventure and Lightning Flash among early winners. In semi finals Flashlight defeated Pet, and Billy Walker beat Mike Davey to claim first and second place respectively.
In South Butte a man named Valiens and a woman called Mary Williams fought over a stolen garment near Oregon and Michigan avenues. The unnamed woman knocked out her antagonist, who left bleeding from the nose with help from his escort.
Ike Hayes of Montana and Jack Douglass of St. Louis were to fight in an eight round bout at the Three Mile House but balked at $14. A sparring display followed amid a crowd of backers and onlookers. Sheriff officers remained on site but no arrests were made.
