The Wearing of the Green Celebration a Success

Irish-Americans of Butte honored St Patrick with a large parade and church services. Crowded Main Street traffic paused as the 9 am procession formed at Hibernia ball Centerville, featuring the Boston and Montana Band and the Meagher Guards. The Cadets, Knights of Columbus, and AOH divisions marched past, with the crowd responsive to the Harp flag and Erin emblem. A school program at St Patrick’s followed with music, plays, and an oration by Lt Edgar Andrieux praising St Patrick and Irish loyalty to Ireland and the United States. After high mass at St Patrick’s Church, the parade moved to St James Hospital and returned to Hibernia hall for an evening of entertainment and further events at local halls.
