A war department dispatch from Manila dated March 14 reports that after prior minor actions since Calooran’s capture, Wheaton with Troops from the Twentieth and Twenty-second Infantry Oregon and Washington forces, artillery, and a Fourth Cavalry squadron pushed a large insurgent force from the river line they now hold. Two improvised lake gunboats seized substantial property. insurgent losses were heavy while American casualties were light.
