Jaton Medan council votes unanimously to accept Andrew Carnegie's offer to fund a public library tenfold the city's annual appropriation. Carnegie would provide about $50,000, while the council would contribute $3,000 each year. The proposal followed a Mary Dill... chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution letter.
