Raid on New York distillery sparks seizure of $18,000

Revenue Agent Robert Williams Jr. led the first New York registered distillery raid in 25 years seizing Joseph Swartman and confiscating the plant in Brooklyn. Theorolure Ackerman B Goldberg and Rudolf Lipa were arrested. Swartman to be captured. Distillery valued at about $18,000, with suspected illegal removal of goods and lack of revenue stamps.

Landscape Painter Edmund Willis Dies in Brooklyn

Edmund Burton Willis, a well known landscape painter based in York, has died at his Brooklyn home on February 4. His best known work is The Prairie Fire, a scene of people fleeing a fire on an American prairie. Willis painted numerous landscapes in the western states for private galleries.
