City and County clash over smallpox bill split
County commissioners demand one half of pest house expenses in the ongoing smallpox outbreak, claiming about 3,781.37 of the roughly 12,000 total, while city health officials insist the city bears its just share. The dispute arises from prior agreements and a May 1900 letter from Chairman William D. Clark.
