Railroads Run Baggage Check To Homes On Tickets
Eastern railroads plan to let passengers check baggage directly to homes or hotels when buying tickets at any line point. A uniform 50 cent per piece fare is suggested, with potential discounts for multiple pieces. New York Central already offers through baggage checks to residences in New York and Brooklyn. If eastern roads adopt this, western lines may follow. Also reports wage bids by Chicago machinists, an apprentice school by Lake Shore at Elkheart Indiana, and a Southwest miners and prospectors excursion with one cent per mile round trip from Denver to New Mexico and Arizona.
