Cora Howard a 30 year old woman, known as Big Cora, killed herself by drinking carbolic acid in her room at 49 West Broadway. The affair followed rumors of infatuation with a married man named Harwell, but neighbors and friends cited years of hardship, including separation from her husband and time with a gambler who later was committed. Despite warning signs and a desperate farewell, doctors could not save her. The undertakers will hold the burial at Richarda’s tonight and tomorrow.
