A four hour cloudburst drenched seven southern Ohio towns in three counties, flooding a 25 square mile area. In Tropic a woman drowned. in Roseville a woman died of a heart attack. Several missing were found safe. miners escaped as water entered Misco coal mine. Alice Adrian, 50, and Stella Owen, 60, perished. thousands fled homes as floods forced residents to seek high ground.

Run Away Trailer Kills Infant. Parents In Critical Condition
A lumber laden run away trailer crashed into the Zellars car on U S Highway 99 W near Maxwell killing 5 month old Sherry Ann Zellars who was asleep in her mother's arms. The parents Mr. and Mrs J T Zellars Jr of San Rafael were critically injured and treated at Memorial Hospital Colusa. The incident occurred as the Zellars were en route to Junction City Oregon to visit relatives. The highway patrol cited the trailer breaking loose from a truck as the cause and the tongue was driven through the hood into the front seat.
