Seven Ohio Towns Flooded After Cloudburst

A four hour cloudburst drenched seven southern Ohio towns in three counties, flooding a 25 square mile area. In Tropic a woman drowned. in Roseville a woman died of a heart attack. Several missing were found safe. miners escaped as water entered Misco coal mine. Alice Adrian, 50, and Stella Owen, 60, perished. thousands fled homes as floods forced residents to seek high ground.

Largest Tam High Commencement In History Tomorrow

Tomorrow at 2 p m 262 students will graduate in Tamalpais Union High School Mead theater largest class in school history while 168 graduates received diplomas in San Rafael last night at Stadium. Candidates Urged to File Election Cost Statements

County Clerk George Jones reminded candidates in the June 6 elections to file campaign expense statements by Wednesday with his office and the county recorder. So far 15 of about 130 candidates have filed. McCollister leads in reported costs at 1977.30 for Marin Sonoma primary expenses, with 160 travel 1367 ads 100 clerk 300 mailing funded personally.

Marin City waitress charged with supplying obscene writing

Louise Crawford, a Marin City waitress, was arraigned in Marin Superior Court on contributing to the delinquency of minors after a teacher found students copying a document she allegedly authored. Judge Edward I Butler appointed Thomas Fitzgerald to defend her, with the case to Marin juvenile court in Sausalito. Fitzgerald also represents Herbert Raymond Hodge, a 37 year old carpenter charged with a Novato burglary. he pled not guilty and trial dates were continued.

Former Marin Supervisor Sued Over $100000 Estate

In Marin Superior Court, Fred Thompson of Stinson Beach seeks half the $100,000 estate of his late wife Helen Meigs Thompson. His son David Thompson, executor, sues to quiet title to two Mill Valley and Bolinas parcels and to determine distribution of property. The suit names Benjamin Dreyfus as plaintiff and notes the widow died Feb 18. the elder Thompson is Kathleen Norris’s brother.

Damages Sought After Marin Auto Crash Damages 52500

Petaluma dressmaker and husband sue in Marin Superior Court for 52500 after an March 24 accident near Greenbrae bridge on Highway 101. Harold Pike of San Francisco blamed. Mrs. Debby Levinson suffered brain concussion and spinal injuries. Jacob Levinson cited for driving without glasses. Husband seeks 2500 for loss of her society.

Ross School Bids Rejected As Too High

The Ross School construction project to add two rooms received no award after all bids proved too high. Principal P. M. Bliss said plans must be revised to cut costs, delaying the project by about one to six weeks and pushing completion beyond the fall term. Washington won the freshman race in the 48th Intercollegiate Rowing Association regatta at Marietta Ohio, covering two miles on the Ohio river in 7 minutes 15 and 2 5 seconds. Princeton finished second.

Hoover Warns Against New Taxes and Minority Groups

Former President Herbert Hoover told Chicago Jaycees that the nation cannot bear substantial new taxes. Run Away Trailer Kills Infant. Parents In Critical Condition

A lumber laden run away trailer crashed into the Zellars car on U S Highway 99 W near Maxwell killing 5 month old Sherry Ann Zellars who was asleep in her mother's arms. The parents Mr. and Mrs J T Zellars Jr of San Rafael were critically injured and treated at Memorial Hospital Colusa. The incident occurred as the Zellars were en route to Junction City Oregon to visit relatives. The highway patrol cited the trailer breaking loose from a truck as the cause and the tongue was driven through the hood into the front seat. The Zellars address is Santa Venetia Linda Avenue Portola Gardens.

John Q. Attorney Named To Defend Dobbs In Morals Case

Marin Superior Court appointed Robert Elliott of San Rafael to defend Nelson Dobbs in a morals case involving a nine year old San Anselmo boy. Dobbs, 36, pleaded not guilty to contributing to a minor and remains jailed in lieu of 1500 dollars bail. He previously tried to represent himself in San Rafael Justice Court but failed to convince Judge Brusatori of no cause to hold.

Hamilton Field Woman Sues Druids For 65000 Damages

Mrs Marie Vanderyerk 27 year old wife of a Hamilton Field dispatcher and Capt Allen H Vanderyerk of Novato filed in Marin Superior Court for 65750 damages against United Ancient Order of Druids Novato Grove No 113 and its officers after she fell at a Nova Druids dance last July breaking her leg.
