Santa Venetia voters form lighting district in 1951 vote
Santa Venetia residents approved creating a lighting district with 116 yes and 58 no in a turnout near 50 percent. The Santa Venetia Improvement club led by Robert R. Doyle planned the effort, Marion Robbins and Ivan Jump campaigned door to door, and a Marin Supervisors board will appoint the district with taxing powers to install lights early in 1952 from east of Highway 101 to Maby Way.

Evening school wage scale set for San Rafael teachers
The San Rafael Board of Education approved a new wage scale for evening vocational instructors at $4 an hour and regular evening teachers at $3.50, increasing regular pay by 25 cents while keeping vocational pay at $4 from the prior year. Manuel T. Thomas a 76 year old Azores native and retired dairyman of Sausalito died after a long illness in a Santa Rosa hospital. Funeral services are set for Friday at 9 am in Mill Valley and 9 30 am at Star of the Sea Sausalito with rosary tomorrow night at 8 30.
