Indianapolis 500 Win Keeps Al Unser's Two in a Row Streak Alive
Al Unser on his 32nd birthday wins the Indianapolis 500 for the second straight year, matching a rare feat last done by Shaw, Rose, and Vukovich decades earlier. A pace car crash, gearbox trouble for Mark Donahue, and Unser's helmet radio crew communication marked the dramatic race. Sterling HUD visit noted and local booster club funds raised for Sterling High School athletics. California Supreme Court voids law banning lady bartenders, signaling shift in alcohol service rules.
