Deaths Rites Slated Today For A p Holliday Accidental Victim

Alfred Preston Holliday 92 of Holts Summit was killed when struck by a Missouri Kansas Texas freight train two and a half miles east of North Jefferson City station in South Callaway County He had been missing since Saturday morning after leaving home for groceries The accident occurred as he sat on the tracks in a dazed state reportedly due to heat The crew Louis M Weathers Ralph W Snell and John Whanger witnessed the tragedy Holliday born March 29 1862 had lived in the Jefferson City area since 1915 He is survived by his wife Tabitha Woodston three daughters two sons 37 grandchildren 42 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren Funeral services are set for 7 p m today at a local funeral home burial at Union Hill Cemetery Holts Summit.

William Batchelor Dies at 32 in Arkansas Death

William E. Batchelor, 32, of 411 West Miller Street, died at 7:45 a.m. while en route to a local hospital. Arthritis was listed as the cause. Born June 23, 1922 in Hannibal, he married Mella Gos ter on June 23, 1952 in Taft Arkansas. Surviving are his wife and a brother, Robert I. Batchelor, address unavailable. Hold Funeral Services For Mrs Ina Bailey

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at St Pauls Lutheran Church for Mrs Ina Bailey 50 who died Sunday night at Latham Sanitarium of leukemia after a period of illness. She was confined to her home days prior.

Washington June 28 Senate Banking Committee exposed government insured real estate deals with windfall profits estimated in the hundreds of millions. Promoters claimed large gains from small investments as maladministration and loose laws allowed major apartment projects. McKenna cited 27 projects illustrating patterns, with hundreds of properties investigated and potential gifts to FHA staff referenced as probes begin. Mrs Ola Mae Reed 58 died at her parents home in California Sunday night. Dr Colin Allen McPheeters 83 former Fulton mayor died Saturday night at a Mexican nursing home after a long career in education and ministry. He headed Westminster College psychology and education for 30 years before retiring in 1948 and also led church and college roles in Perry Missouri Lindenwood St Charles, Oliver College Michigan Central Missouri State Teachers College Warrensburg and Hamden-Sydney. Three motorists fined in police court

Three motorists were fined a total of 65 dollars in police court for careless and reckless driving following multiple auto accidents Sunday. Leonard Schmidt 21 Bennets Mill paid 25 dollars for a 12 46 p m collision in Madison Street involving a Wagner owned car and another driven by Denver Kroeger Henley. Fred V Hettinger 60 General Delivery was fined 25 dollars plus costs and sentenced to 30 days in jail for an accident at Dunford and Madison Streets with Clyde Gaither 54 of St Louis listed as the other driver. James Harold Libbert 19 Rt 5 paid 15 dollars and 60 days probation for an accident at Clark Ave and Bald Hill Rd involving a pickup that struck Emmett P North at 1205 Moreau Dr.
