University City Woman Injured in Car Crash

University City resident Mers N. Galleano, 70, was thrown from a car when it overturned near Chandler on a vacation trip to California. She remained in critical condition with a severe head injury and multiple cuts as hospital staff reported. Her son Cecil Young, carrying four grandchildren, said the driver lost control and the vehicle flipped four times.

Man Convicted in Wife Killing Case at Moberly

In Moberly Missouri on June 23 a circuit court jury convicted Louis W. Bryce of assault with intent to kill his estranged wife after an April 20 shooting. The two-year state prison sentence followed Bryce’s claim of amnesia about the shooting while his wife testified to ongoing marital trouble and recent separation amid alleged abuse. Mrs Bryce, a witness, recalled his taunting and threats during the confrontation.

Jury Exonerates Joplin 4 Man in Fatal Shooting

Joplin coroner's jury finds Thomas Loyd acted in self defense when he shot Vernie Bradley of Choctopee Kas killing him. Loyd is exonerated and released. Bradley's body released to relatives.
