Memorial Day tribute in Dahlonega honors Confederate dead
Last Saturday Dahlonega held Memorial Day ceremonies with cadets and a band escorting veterans to the college chapel then to Mt Hope Cemetery to lay flowers on graves. W H McAfee of Atlanta addressed the crowd, his talk recalling Civil War memories as the flag with bullet holes stirred recollections. Afterward veterans returned to Halls Villa Hotel for a dinner with twenty seven attendees, and local businessmen were noted in attendance.
