Extraordinary street loan rates in New Orleans
The New Orleans Bulletin notes that money is quoted on the streets at six to eight percent per annum for sixty to ninety day paper, making street borrowing cheaper than bank loans when brokerage is added. Redundant currency in banks drives terms. as this surplus grows, money will flow into the market until the next crop season opens broader use.
