Etiquette and manners at the dining table and society

A lengthy treatise contrasts refined table etiquette with awkward slips and the calm, dignified handling of accidents at table. The piece emphasizes listening to hosts, discreet cleanup, and maintaining composure, while warning against missteps like improper knife and fork use, spitting, whispering, and bold movements that disturb others. It also weaves in political aside and quotes, contrasting decorum with public figures.
