What to Do in Case of Accident
Prof Wilder of the Cornel University offers short rules for accidents. Avoid rubbing dusty eyes, irrigate with water, remove cinders, and use a pencil point carefully. Compress above or below wounds, cough if choked, cool burns, and cover destroyed skin. Smother fires, breathe deeply then stoop in smoke, avoid carbon. For poison misuse, induce vomiting, use alkalis or acids as advised, and keep moving with opium poison. In water, float on back, head raised. For apoplexy or fainting, raise or lay flat respectively.
