Oil or gas drilling to start in meadow near Georges Creek Coal Co
William Hickman and force will begin work this week on drilling for oil or gas in the meadow opposite the office of the Georges Creek Coal Company. The crew of derrick men arrived last Tuesday morning and quarters are at the Maryland Hotel. The timber for construction has been on the ground over a week, and Hickman and associates' exhaustive efforts lead locals to believe wealth beyond coal may lie nearby. The jrady Hotel adds a sun parlor annex on West Main street, largely glass with swings and chairs. William Schram, contractor, is remodeling Barton Hotel Property at Barton owned by Samuel.
