Texas Officials Report Tax Revenue From Visitors
Last year visitors paid 166 million in direct state taxes to the Texas Highway Department. The department found average spending per auto traveler daily at 14.92 dollars. Visitor spending had risen 170 percent since 1964. A complete reorganization of the state court system was urged to voters by Texas Supreme Court Associate Justice Tom Beavley. Agricultural prices were discussed with claims price ceilings won’t curb food costs. Health authorities began a pilot study to identify needed health and safety standards in industry.
