Akerly Sill and Company begin lumbering again near Caoba after Darbee Peet Co purchased pine timber four miles north of the village. Contractors cut about 1 300 000 feet in three months, with thirty four teams hauling logs and forty men chopping. Sawing expected to start early next month, band saw negotiations may bring savings and increase output.

Mrs. Anna Hubbard DeKay died at her home Sunday night after a long illness marked by chronic pain. Born February 2 1848 she married C A DeKay in 1872 and was a devout Baptist. A postmortem revealed a malignant scrofulous growth in the lower bowels and uterine appendages, deemed untreatable and fatal. Funeral held January 26 at the Baptist church with Rev V A Sige preaching.
The Lackawanna and Pillsburz Cannon Ball sleeper train from Wayland to New York on the D L & W line is discontinued this Sunday. The change burdens travelers by forcing a longer route and removes a pleasant cityward connection. A Belfast Junction link with B N P trains remains, while a narrow gauge line to Angelica offers a late evening Erie connection to the D L & W.
