Mrs. Lydia Hidinger of Prescott was listed among 21 passengers who perished when a government steamer sank in the Mississippi near Coahoma Landing on May 8. Her son Roy Hidinger, a government engineer, and her grandson survived. The ill fated party was on an engineering inspection trip. Her husband was killed four decades ago in Adams county over a disputed fence line.

Sam Broang a Creston resident for 38 years and longtime C B & Q engineer died at 5 this morning at 205 North Vine Street after a long illness. Born August 2 1854 in Broby Smaland Sweden he came to Creston after 1888 and worked 33 years on Cumberland branch. He married Albertina Swan in 1889 and leaves a widow two daughters Esther and Emma two sisters and two brothers in Sweden and New York state. Funeral plans have not been announced.

Farmers Will Hear Swinford At Chamber Dinner
