The city health officer reports 18 months of unusually good general health with no cases of smallpox scarlet fever mumps whooping cough measles or typhoid. Chickenpox appears but is not seen as serious. Mothers are warned to watch children for summer complaint symptoms and seek care promptly.
A transcript of the testimony from Elmer L. Hunt’s unprofessional conduct trial will be prepared at Union county's expense by the shorthand reporter. Judge J H Applegate ordered the filing as the case is appealed to the Iowa supreme court. Hunt was found guilty on one charge and suspended from practicing law for 18 months starting July 1 with eligibility to apply for reinstatement after October 1, 1925. the suspension remains stayed pending the supreme court hearing.
Charles C Farman, indicted with William D Shepherd, had the murder charge stricken from the docket by Judge Thomas J Lynch on the State's Attorney Crowe's recommendation. Farman had led the National University of Sciences and claimed to have taught Shepherd how to administer typhoid bacilli.
Degnan Reynolds was low man in the weekly 18 hole prize golf tournament at Crestmoor Sunday and won the first prize a pair of knickers from the J Penney company store. J W Richardson placed twenty first and won a box of cigars from Rexall drug store. L L McGregor finished thirty first taking the stationery prize from Heinies print shop.
Funeral services for Mrs A H Quin who died Monday morning at her home 511 New York Avenue will be held at 2 30 Thursday afternoon at the home Rev Homer Baumgardner will officiate and burial will be in Graceland cemetery

Mayor J F Ball sworn statement brands rumors of a Cedar Rapids smallpox outbreak as false. He reports 15 quarantined cases in 12 buildings, only one new case since June 23, and no other cases on record. He defends local papers as accurate and calls contrary reports malicious.
The west side Unitarian church selected Rev Dr A Wakefield Slaten formerly ousted from Liberty Missouri’s William Jewell College in 1923. Slaten, then a professor at the Unitarian school of ministry Berkeley California, was invited to fill the post after Rev Dr Charles Francis Potter’s resignation. confirmation awaited.
Des Moines reports state gas line tax receipts for May totaling 420,216.60 dollars. During the last two weeks of April receipts added 127,682.39 dollars. State Treasurer R. Johnson announced the figures.

Heirs of W F Craig of Afton win court decree ensuring $5600 from a $5500 note goes to his children and grandchildren. The will left the note to the widow but to the heirs for the rest of the estate. Court ruled the testator intended to give the note proceeds to the children and grandchildren.
President Coolidge plans a quick motor trip back to Swampscott, Massachusetts after visiting Plymouth where his father Colonel John Coolidge showed marked improvement. The president will deliver a Friday address in Cambridge for Washington’s 150th anniversary of continental army command.
Des Moines street car workers were called to meet for a strike vote after the union reported the company had not discharged conductor J. E. Cooper despite union action on June 22. Union officers A G Schenck and J Ben Wiley announced the meeting and the reason for it.
Clarence L. Yule an architect formerly of Creston and now of Milwaukee filed suit in district court against the Creston Masonic Temple association seeking a mechanic's lien on the building and property and judgment for 1 444 560. He was hired in January 1922 to design the two story structure at Montgomery and Oak streets. The super structure is complete but interior first floor only is finished. Estimated total cost stands near 40 000 with plans to finish at about 30 000 more. Yule says he has received 1 050 leaving 1 100 50 plus 345 for unofficial supervision. Masons say the claim is based on total cost and that full payment was made for services.
Associated Press report from Chicago states William D Shepherd is freed of all criminal charges in the death of his millionaire foster son Billy McClintock after a grand jury returned a no bill. The typhoid linked death previously led to acquittal. will contest involving Isabel Pope and cousins continues over the $1,000,000 McClintock estate.
Council Bluffs Iowa June 30 Railroad traffic here with eight trunk lines converging is reported much improved The Union Pacific railroad operates 20 to 30 engines and crews in the terminal has increased its force and is now working 25 switch crews and engines and has asked men on temporary suspension to be ready to return at calls The terminal expects the biggest fall business in the history of the company.
Sixteen refrigerator manufacturing companies pleaded guilty in federal court to indictments in furniture cases under the Sherman act. They were fined $2,000 to $5,000 each, joining chair makers who faced similar penalties. A counsel statement called any violation merely technical.
