Youth Confesses To Stealing Clothing
Edwin Brown twenty from Rock Falls Illinois was brought to Cedar Rapids to answer burglary charges for a March 23 theft at Zack Taylor clothing in Mt Vernon. He confessed and pledged to plead guilty to a true information this afternoon. Rock Falls authorities alerted Sheriff Avery after Brown was seen selling the stolen items which matched Taylor’s description. Brown had previously served a sentence at Pontine for forgery.

George William Brotherton 67 a longtime Union county resident and Creston post office assistant postmaster died after a weeklong illness at his home 414 North Maple street. Born August 29 1857 near Orangeville New York he moved to Iowa in 1881 and served as Union county auditor 1901 1905 before becoming Creston assistant postmaster in 1905. He married Francis Gould in New York State in 1912 and is survived by his widow and six children Leonard Noah Frank Horatio Lila Drew and one infant who died. Funeral services Tuesday at 2 pm at the Baptist church with short home rites prior. The body will lie in state Tuesday morning.
