Boston Lyrics to Perform on Star Course in Cranbury

The Boston Lyrics, a vocal and instrumental trio with readings and cartoons, will appear Saturday evening November 13 as part of the Star Course. They use cornet trombone and marymbaphone and have logged over 12 000 miles on tour between June 20 1911 and March 1 1912 including stops in Portland Maine and Portland Oregon.

Elwood Groves Narrow Escape After Collision

Elwood Groves escaped serious injury last evening after a head on collision with Dr B Van Dyke and a moving van. Groves turned his car onto the curb to avoid the van as the wagon wheels were mashed and a horse was thrown. Groves suffered a strained back while the horse had a minor leg cut and Groves is mobile today.

Dr Horace G Norton Dies After Paralysis Attack

Dr Horace G Norton of East State street Trenton died Tuesday night after being stricken with paralysis while on a professional call. He leaves a widow a niece Miss Emma Norton Wright and an uncle Dr Clarence Slack of Florida. Born in Hightstown he was active in medical societies and banking historical and secret circles. Funeral from his home tomorrow morning with interment in Hightstown.

Danser to Manage New Mercer Co Co op

Frank C. Danser of Hightstown will serve as secretary treasurer and manager of the Farmers' Co-operative Association of Mercer County. The office will be in Mercer County Farm Bureau rooms, Trenton. Danser sits on the Mercer County Farm Bureau executive committee and Monmouth County Farmers' Exchange board, is Hightstown Grange secretary, and has long custodian duties for East Windsor schools.

Peddie Institute Plans Semi Centenary Celebration

Peddie Institute at Hightstown marks a fifty year milestone with a week of special exercises next June. Prominent educators from colleges and prep schools will participate as about 5 000 alumni students attend. Under Dr R K W Swetland enrollment grew from 40 to 300, with 18 faculty plus the physical director John Plant overseeing athletics. Two new dormitories and four houses expand housing as new courses elevate the school’s status.

Princeton Council Hosts Royal Arcana Attendees in High School

Supreme Regent Samuel W Hoag Grand Regent H J Bierman and New Jersey staff with Supreme Auditor William F McConnell and others attended a Royal Arcanum meeting in Princeton Tuesday night. Trenton and Lambertville councils were guests as the large gathering listened to addresses by supreme officers and visitors. Goodwins Band of Cranbury provided music.

Reading Rooms Established at Jamesburg for Youth

Officers have organized boys and girls reading rooms above the Albert G. Lange property in Jamesburg. President Mrs Margaret Abbott, Vice President Mrs Frank Jennings, Treasurer Ray John Ehrenstein, Secretary Rev Henry Johnson. Open daily 6 to 10 pm including Sundays. Aimed at bettering town youth with access to an up to date institution. Books are requested and contributions gratefully received. Free entertainment will be offered periodically and is expected to prove popular.

Band Benefit Tomorrow at Lange's Hall Jamesburg

A Halloween affair raises funds for the Jamesburg Concert Band tomorrow evening in Lange's Hall. Food and drinks including clam chowder sandwiches cake coffee pie and ice cream will be sold with prizes and attractions. Burroughes' Orchestra will provide music for the event.

Strand Theatre Opens in Hightstown With Modern Interior

Hightstown opens its Strand mov ing picture theatre on Morriston Street. The interior features 500 separate chairs, new lighting, fresh paint, a nitrogen lamp at the entrance, exit lamps, a telephone, and a ladies rest room. Proprietors Messrs Robbins and Norton plan to show the latest refined shows at all times.
