The Bergen family reunion was held Saturday at Edward Long shore’s home in Trenton with about twenty five attendees including Mr and Mrs Disbrow Bergen and Mr John Bergen. Clifford C Stults and Alma M Flock welcomed a son Clifford Clairton Jr born October 14 with mother and child reported healthy. Prosecutor Joseph E Stricker spoke at the Second Presbyterian Church Men’s Club meeting in Cranbury on law enforcement in Middlesex County.
The Ladies Aid Society of the ME church calls a Halloween Birthday Party for Monday night October 31 at the home of Mr and Mrs Jobo Nostrand. A penny or dollar gift brings treats and fun. A short notice invites all to attend and celebrate in a church social event.
C Hezekiah Braxton of Cranbury, colored, was sentenced by Judge Frank E. Cleary in Middlesex County Court to five to fifteen years for a serious charge raised by his fifteen year old daughter Emma. The alleged frame up with uncle David Stuart failed to yield enough evidence for a new trial. The judge cited the seriousness of the crime in imposing the severe punishment.
Three Middlesex county figures receive compliment in Newark Sunday Call. John Pfeiffer of Maurer presides with veteran style and reelected Middlesex Republican chair for the 14th time. William M. Cox of Cranbury advocates crop rotation and will exhibit at the county board of agriculture meeting in Cranbury in November. H W Jeffers of Plainsboro, a leading dairy farm manager, is renowned for cow knowledge and active in the State Agricultural Society and Hoover campaign of 1920.
A C Beekman reports George Watts finished the 1921 season after strong showings, beating rivals such as Murphy Cox Geers Pitman and others. In Ohio he defeated Brasil in every start, a horse bought for Mr W H Cain of Woolworth, with a mark of 207 and earnings of 12550. At age five Watts will be returned home to rest a month, attracting attention from prospective buyers. In Ohio they call him a Bear Cat.
At the October Wo m en s Home and Foreign Missionary Society meeting in Daytons Long Memorial chapel Mrs James B Clark received a wrist watch from members for years of faithful service as president The gift surprised her Rev Clark will resign by December end and the Clarks plan to move to Philadelphia Nearby social activity included a tenth wedding anniversary and visits from relatives and friends to Mrs William Conover and other locals.
Mr and Mrs Theodore Stoetzel of New Brunswick visited Miss Carry McBurdy on Sunday. The Perrines spent the weekend with friends in Trenton. Miss Sue Atking of Bridgeport visited the Schancks in town. Anna Laurie of Little Silver stayed with Helen Schuyler. Virginia Reybold returned home to Roselle after three months with her aunt Mrs John Peppler. George and Mrs Peppler hosted visits from the Applegates, Lukens, Rockhills, and Miss Jennie Cole of South Amboy. Invitations issued for the Mason Wetherill wedding at the Mason home on Wednesday November 2 at 6 30 PM. The Grovers and others left for an auto trip to Chambersburg PA. The Mount family reunion took place October 15 with multiple relatives from Manalapan, Hightstown, Davis Station, Applegarth, and Wilmington. An application will be made to Borough Council in November to run a bus line from Trenton to Freehold via Hightstown. The National Geographic Society recently donated title to the last 640 acres of land completing Sequoia National Park. The park totals 1 916 acres and was funded by government and private contributions plus a Tulare county tax levy.
