The Social Club will meet next Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Butcher. Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon Reeves announce the engagement of their daughter Rosa D to Lafayette Reeves of Freehold. State Forester at Hightstown. Under the direction of the Hights town Shade Tree Commission and the Hightstown Improvement Society. State Forester Gaskill lectured at the Baptist Chapel on Wednesday evening. Mrs. Margaret E. Dickey died Saturday morning in the eightieth year. Funeral at her son Dr. George H. Dickey’s residence in Flushing. Interment in Brainerd cemetery Cranbury. Jane A. Thompson aged 74 died Wednesday at Park Place. Survived by daughter Georgia and son John. Funeral tomorrow at 2 pm at her residence. Interment in Second Presbyterian cemetery.
The Synod of New Jersey will hold its ninety third annual meeting at Olivet Presbyterian Church in Atlantic City for three days starting October 18. Topics include the new self supporting synod plan for home missions administration and Billy Sunday evangelistic campaign results. Rev. John F. Patterson prepared the docket and distributed copies to Presbyterian pastors statewide.
A crowded observance at the Second Presbyterian chapel featured medleys of hymns and prayers with 165 attendees, plus reports from Mrs. Zandt and Mrs. Thorne. Other items include a Circle meeting at Ire W H Johnson's house with a Wilcox recital, and a Middlesex County Board of Agriculture field meeting October 15 at John Evans farm to study local corn samples and weights.

Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Waite, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Chamberlain, Miss Helen Applegate, Gladys Applegate, Helen Wilson, Madeline Hutchinson, Eleanor Field, Mrs Helen Wallace, Mrs Kent Lay, Paul Brower, St Clair Williams, Harold Garton, Raymond Stonaker and Frank Priory.
The Missionary Society of the Hights town Baptist Church disbands and reorganizes as World Wide Guide. A new Farther Lights society forms with officers including President Mrs J Albert Priory and secretary Miss Eugenia Norris. Meetings set for the first Tuesday night each month.
The ninth annual Rally of the Men’s Bible Class at Hightstown Baptist Church elected officers for the coming year led by Head Master RK W Swetland. Officers include President William G Riley and secretary William B Lewis with a total class membership of 938.
A large oil flow was encountered while workers dug on the Burdy property, reaching a six Be depth before oil rushed into the pool. The pool will remain idle to gauge flow strength, then a quality test may follow. Nearby Howe tract had a prior small showing, drawing crowds to the site.
Thomas Cox shot Henry Clayton in the back in a Princeton Junction field then paraded in a wagon defying arrest. Officers fired near Cox to end the chase and he was jailed on $1,000 bail awaiting grand jury action.
Hightstown builds chemistry lab at $800 funded by the school, directed by Prof. A. L. Terwillinger. The new apparatus will serve the chemistry classes and elevate the high school to the rank of state’s leading schools.
