Church Notes and Local Meetings Synopsis

The First and Second Presbyterian Churches list upcoming services and notes for December including sacrament observances and sermons by Rev. J. E. Curry and Rev. Henry Harrison. The Young People and Home Missionary groups meet December 1 and December 6 with leaders Miss Ethel Snedeker and Mrs. Aucil Davison. Jr. O. U. A. M. and Plainsboro Council Masonic outreach are also referenced. A hay barn on the Walker Gordon farm burned Wednesday evening, with prior farm losses. The J. F. F. Club held its first meeting of the season at the Bennetts with officers elected and new members admitted. The Village Improvement Society meets December 2 in the Library room, with swan-purchase committee to convene.

Pioneer Grange to Elect Officers at December Meeting

The Pioneer Grange No. 1 schedules its next meeting for December 10 with officer elections for the coming year. Walter H Havens and John B Perrine will join the annual National Grange P of H meeting in Atlantic City next week, departing December 2. Mrs Susan Wiley of Grovers Mill dies after surgery at St Francis Hospital Trenton leaving friends and several unknowns in mourning.

Auto Plunges In Ditch During NY to Philadelphia Trip

A National racing car number 82516 on a NY to Philadelphia run swerved to avoid a bridge approach and toppled into a ditch in front of F W Jemigan’s around 10 AM. The two occupants, en route to the Army and Navy game, escaped injury. A separate item notes a piano pupil recital at Plainsboro hall with a long program of pieces and a Thanksgiving program at Cranbury School with multiple recitations and songs.

Social season fills evenings with parties and weddings

Mrs Earl C Wilson hosted a Five Hundred gathering with midnight refreshments and prizes for ladies and gentlemen. Others hosted Five Hundred parties, surprise gatherings, luncheons, and a November 28 Plainboro wedding for Mary Elizabeth Major to Franklyn Rule Mershon with a full ceremony, gifts, and a dance of pink and white decor.
