Word has been received of the death of Mrs. W I Elsing of Brooklyn mother of Rev Warren Elsing formerly pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church Cranbury now of Van Nuys California. The Ladies Reading Circle will hold the first meeting of the season on Wednesday afternoon December 4 Hostess Mrs Barclay Miss Cramer from the State Agricultural College will give a talk on Home Economics. It is hoped members will make this a grand rally day as other meetings follow.

Red Cross urges women to sew garments for European refugees
The Red Cross reports ample surgical dressings and calls women nationwide to sew and knit for refugees this winter. Local rooms will host weekly sewing on Monday afternoons from 2 to 5 pm to make garments for those freed from slavery. Relatives with boxes of supplies are asked to bring them to the Red Cross rooms next Monday.

Balloonist Farr Shot Down Over France
Captain Marcus L. Farr of Princeton a leading US balloon corps marksman was shot down in France after his balloon was set afire by Bowie aviators. He parachuted to safety and has survived multiple close calls while serving nearly a year abroad after enlisting with the war effort. He previously taught at Princeton University and was stationed at Fort Meyer, Virginia.
