Missionary Wedding Sets Pace for Service in Metuchen

Fire Nearly Destroys House From Oil Stove Incident
Wednesday morning a fire threat arose at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lawrence when Mrs. Lawrence lit an oil stove in the dining room and the carpet caught fire. Mr. Lawrence moved the stove outside and doused the flames with water, saving the house. An orchestra, with John Roberts, Joseph Owens, Arthur Burroughs, and Charles Armstrong, will be available for dances. They recently played at Lange's Hall in Jamesburg. The Reading Circle will meet at Mrs. M. E. Bergén's home next Wednesday at 2:30 PM.

Death of John Hutchinson at 77 in paint shop incident
John Hutchinson died suddenly after a stroke while painting Odd Fellows Hall with Cornelius Petty. He collapsed at home around eleven, before aid could arrive. He leaves a widow, a daughter Anna Gilbert of New York, a son Harvey Hutchinson of Cranbury, two granddaughters Mary and Hazel, and two grandsons Enos and Harvey. Funeral Saturday at two, Rev. J. E. Curry officiating, Brainerd cemetery burial.

Willard Peters son reported a horse and rig stolen from a farm near Hightstown on Monday night. The Cranbury Vigilant Society alerted authorities on Wednesday and pursuers found the horse at Allentown the same day by Mr. Jemison.

Miss Anna Cortelyon of Ten Mile Run near Franklin Park suffered a great loss on Saturday morning when all her out-buildings including barns wagon houses hog houses cow-house pig pens corn cribs and a small house were entirely consumed by fire. The barns contained hay farming implements wagons harness and valuables though horses cows and several carriages were saved. Four hogs and several ducks perished.
