Local churches publish a busy schedule with Sunday School at 10, worship at 11 led by Rev. J B Curry on “The Disarmament Conference Christian or Pagan.” Second Church outlines classes, youth programs, and a November 29 play “Safety First” by the C E Society.
Special meetings run November 18 to 20 at Cranbury Methodist Church with leading New Jersey Conference ministers and Hightstown Baptist and Methodist pastors. Surrogate Daniel W. Clayton, re-elected for another term, was serenaded by about thirty citizens at his South Cranbury home last evening. He thanked supporters and noted the Red Cross enlistment drive runs Armistice Day to the 25th with dues collected at John Carlson's drug store.
Miss Helen Jemison of Elizabeth and Miss Gladys Ely of Mount traveled, while S Ely Mount attended the Nash dealers meeting in Philadelphia. Mrs. Reybold of Roselle, Mrs. Hutchinson, and families visited friends in various towns. Reed family outings to Spring Lake noted. Willis Hancock completed Maple Shade Garage on Monmouth Street and Mount Sullivan will serve the public. The column ends with a quoted verse advising pride in one’s town and willingness to move for better opportunities.
Middlesex County voted Republican across most races on Tuesday with Daniel W. Clayton the lone Democrat surrogate winner by a narrow margin. Morgan F. Larson captured the state Senate seat. Larson and other GOP nominees led, while bond issues failed. Voters in Cranbury showed strong turnout for local and county offices amid a GOP sweep.
