New Laws Strengthen New Jersey Tax Board Powers

In Trenton the legislature enacted measures broadening the State Board of Taxes and Assessment powers to reallocate underassessments and correct inequalities nationwide. The act enables complete reassessment by the board or under its direction, with filings due by March 11. Additional provisions cover railroads, miscellaneous corporations, and the revival of the Tax Commission to study future tax reforms including a state income tax and broad property exclusions. The Mosquito Extermination Association calls for a $1 million bond if needed, urging mandatory county funding and swift action to curb malaria.

Success in raising geese on grass pastures and small flocks

United States Department of Agriculture notes geese rely on grass and water, with most raised in small farms. Geese tolerate pests well, but require dry goslings and protected space. Breeders use hens or artificial methods, keep records by marking gosling feet, and separate young from adults for safety.

MAKE FOWLS WORK FOR FOOD

Specialists from the United States Department of Agriculture advise scattering scratch feed or whole grain in litter to engage hens for daily work. Use troughs or hoppers for dry mash kept accessible. Provide fresh green food at noon to aid digestion.
