Women in Big Economy Move Buy from Farm

North Jersey women form direct buying groups to purchase asparagus and other farm produce from South Jersey growers, aiming to cut costs and bypass middlemen. The effort, backed by the Women Voters' League and the State Federation of Women's Clubs, seeks about one million dollars in direct purchases this year and expands to peas, beans, tomatoes, corn, apples, and potatoes. Also notes Cranbury Poultry Club leads in April egg production with notable individual results, and potato dealers push a fair, competitive plan with several local firms handling sales.
