Monmouth Presbyterial Society of Home Missions met at Red Bank to report a banner year for contributions. Mrs Henry S White of Red Bank is president with Mia W D Harker of Long Branch as treasurer and other officers guiding the work. Miss Ottie Puerschner Mary Spaulding Ina Puerschner accompany a Washington excursion with the High school group to view the Capitol area.
Miss Clementine Lewis entertains in honor of Miss Emma Ford ahead of her marriage to Stanley Conover. Cranbury teacher Emma Ford and associates attend with pink carnation decor and place cards.
Harvey D. Reese was found dead near midnight between here and Hightstown. Heart disease was given as the cause. Funeral plans are private Monday with viewing Sunday from 4 to 6 PM at his home.
Van Cleef Martin died at his home in Asbury Park on Wednesday after a lingering illness. He leaves a daughter Mrs. Patrick and a son Le Roy Martin, both of Asbury Park. Funeral services were held in Asbury Park at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Brainerd cemetery, Cranbury, tomorrow morning, under direction of A. S. Cole, Son & Co.
On May first the Farm Demonstration Office moved from the College Farm to 341 George Street Mr Irving L Owen will be in the office Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning weekly for consultations Daily telephone service will be maintained until Saturday noon at 1487 the number to be listed in the next telephone directory Signed Irvine L Owen Supt Middlesex County Farm Demonstration Honor Roll for April lists top students across grades one through Eighth with names including Enid Walker Lester Ervin Elmer Everett Charles Brown Herbert Prescott Marion Hammond Norman Appleger and others.
At a meeting in the Fire House on Saturday evening Mr. Forman reported strong support for Clean Up Day with the town thoroughly cleaned and thanks extended to helpers and teams. Health Inspector Mr. Havens noted all unsanitary places cleaned and lime distributed. fences and outbuildings urged to be whitewashed. The State Board of Health advice on screened privy vaults and manure treatment was discussed along with waterway conditions on North Main street. Next meeting set for Saturday evening May 8 with a large attendance hoped for.
Hunter Brooke Jr formerly auditor of American Snuff Co at Jamesburg died by his own hand in Media Pennsylvania on Monday after a period of temporary insanity leaving a wife and infant child. Society items note guests, tennis club officers at Mrs Milton Voorhees home, fishing feats by Charles Lange, and various Sunday visits. 1915 Ford car delivered to Frederick Grisman concludes a roundup of local notes and events.
