Nicholas Vreeland aged 65 died Sunday night June 11. He leaves four children including Nicholas Vreeland Jr of Monmouth Junction and Mrs. Martin Welsh. Born April 5 1857 in Jersey City, he lived in Cranbury 29 years and was a rural mail carrier 15 years. A deacon and member of Second Presbyterian Church and Apollo Lodge 156 F and A M. Funeral held at his daughter Mrs Welsh’s home Thursday at 3 pm Rev Schweitzer officiating. Interment in Second Presbyterian cemetery conducted by A B Cole Son & Co.

Tragic Death At Shafe Mine Breach In Pennsylvania
Matilda Prescott aged 50 was found dead in a water filled mine breach at Shafe. She had been ill and visiting a sister at Shaft. She left the house at night, walked to the beach, removed her shoes and stockings, and threw herself into the water. She leaves a husband and three children.
