Church notes announce Children's Day activities Sunday with morning baptism focus and an evening program by the Sunday school. First Presbyterian shaping decorations of roses ferns and daisies and a ritual program featuring readings songs recitations and offerings for missions.
At the Second Presbyterian Church flags will decorate the program and sixteen boys will perform a flag drill: Willard Groves Orville Moore Milton Van Derveer Charles Schnell Isaiah Barclay Milton Lawrence Lewis Chamberlin Graham Campbell James O'Neil Ernest Walker Clarence Conover John Campbell Albert Bar clay James Wilsop Harold O'Neil Norman Appleger An address by Prof. Rivenburg of Peddie Institute Hights town and attendance prizes for members of the school. The Methodist Summer Voices exercise is used by the Methodist Sunday school. The Home Missionary Society of the First Presbyterian Church meets in the chapel this afternoon June seventh with Mra. J. J. Bradley in charge.
The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was observed in Presbyterian Churches Sunday morning last. At the First church Miss Gertrude Davison Miss Grace Morse Peppler and Abijah Applegate Wilson were received on profession of faith and those by letter were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Daviron, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey GONE Mra, Clarence Perrine. At the Second Church two were received on profession of faith Frank Reed and Ernest Campbell.
The annual meeting of the Ladies Reading Circle will be held next Wednesday afternoon June 12 with officers to be elected for the ensuing year. This will be the closing meeting for the summer and will be held with Mrs Burroughs.
Yesterday storm caused the Prospect Plains Sunday school strawberry festival to be postponed to this evening. Organizers urge attendees to watch for updated schedules and weather advisories.
Mrs. Mary A. Cox widow of former Sheriff Wm. M. Cox died last evening at her son's home aged 81. She had been an invalid for three years and suffered strokes since a hip dislocation after a paralysis incident. Survived by sons Wm. M. Cox and James A. Cox and sister Mrs. T. M. Dickey. Funeral Monday at 11.30 at the Cox residence with Rev. Ebell and Rev. O. P. Eaches. Interment Brainerd cemetery. Arrangements by A. S. Cole, Son & Co. Levett sails on world trip aboard Campania.
Mr and Mrs Stephen Alfred French of Loch Arbour announce the marriage of their daughter Edith May French to Mr David Smith Holcomb on the first Saturday of June. The couple are on a honeymoon and will reside at 85 Shrewsbury Avenue Red Bank N J after July first.
Joseph M. Gordon and Miss Belle Schumacher married at the bride’s sister’s Brooklyn home with Rev. Siding officiating. The groom’s brother William Gordon served as best man. The couple plans a wedding trip to Old Point Comfort and will reside in Brooklyn in a new apartment. Gordon is a Monotype inspector in a New York firm.
Tonight the Young People's Christian Association of Second Presbyterian Church presents an entertainment in the chapel featuring Living Gibson and Christy Pictures. A fine program is promised and a social with strawberries, cake and ice cream will follow.
Hundreds gather on R. J. Gulick lawn for Goodwins Band anniversary program. Speakers laud leader J. H. Goodwin and band for preserving high moral tone and wide public service as the group notes over 500 engagements.
The town youths organize a tennis club with officers led by President Arthur L. Burroughs, Vice President Florence Perrine, Treasurer David Lewis Jr, and Secretary Miss Sara Perrine. About twenty five members currently join the group.
