Communion June 7 announced with The Lord's Supper to be administered at First and Second Presbyterian Churches. Miss Bessie Bergen graduates from the School of Industrial Arts at Trenton with a china painting diploma.
Cc E Society of First Presbyterian to meet Sunday with topic The Purity Verse led by Miss Elva Chamberlin. Children’s Day observed at Second Presbyterian June 21. New hymnals arrive for First Presbyterian service next Sunday. Village Improvement Society to meet June 7 at 7 30 pm in Public Library. Mr and Mrs William M Cox attended Pomona Grange meeting at Ewing she installed as Ceres. W H Johnson sent by son Warren F Johnson a box of White House plants. George Hutchinson and wife welcome baby daughter born Tuesday. Goodwins Band to play Harvest Home events July 22 and July 29. Local Cranbury group excursion to Washington DC included several residents. Augustus Farr’s trotting horse from Unionville took third at Freehold Decoration Day races. Miss Bessie A Morse becomes first woman autioist member of Middlesex Auto Club.
The J F F Club members enjoyed a Tuesday excursion visiting Duke Park Chimney Rock and other sites. Participants included Mr and Mrs LeRoy Scott Mr and Mrs G A Bennett Mr and Mrs Johnes Dey Mr and Mrs John Bennett Mr and Mrs Raymond Griggs Mrs Jane Dey Miss Elizabeth Petty and Arthur E Perrine.
The Social Club schedules its first season outing on June 10 a motor trip to Staten Island with visits to points of interest and a supper stop on the return via Plainfield and New Brunswick. The outing is organized by a committee led by Harry N. Scott and others. Re-elected fire commissioners John S. Bergen and Clifford Conover. A $550 appropriation was approved. The board includes Charles Hoffman Abram Voorhees John Bergen Clifford Conover and Edward Applegate.
Mrs Fannie VanDerveer entertained the teachers of the public school and friends at a six o clock dinner Wednesday evening. Guests included Misses Anna Cherry Miriam Carter Emma Ditmore Emma Ford Laura Scudder Anna Ervin Della Bergen Elva Chamberlin Annie Voorhees Clara and Bessie Bergen.
While driving to Jacobstown to play for a harvest home, members of Goodwin's band narrowly escaped a lightning strike. In the car were Will Dey Walter Farr Fred Hoffman Harold Farr and Daniel Bogart. A bolt struck a tree nearby as a thunderstorm moved over between Allentown and New Egypt. The blast dazed all in the vehicle though they continued to their engagement that evening.
Cranbury High School defeated Lenoxville Jr 18 to 6 and beat Lepoxville Jr 4 to 2 on Decoration Day. Pitcher Chick Hoffman earned strong support as Cranbury fans praised a quality team effort and announced plans for a Jamesburg visit tomorrow.
Hopewell beat Cranbury 10 to 0 on Decoration Day as Hoffman pitched three solid innings before arm trouble and Cranbury errors let seven runs cross. Walsh closed five innings allowing three runs.
Harold ONeil II, son of Mr and Mrs James ONeil, cut a leg badly on a lawn mower while playing with boys. Dr B S Van Dyke treated him, later Dr Reddan was called, a trained nurse cares for him, and he rests comfortably though nervous condition lingers. Recovery hoped.
Governor Fielder issues a proclamation urging Sunday June 14 as Flag Day to honor the national emblem. The call marks the first statewide request for a general observance of the flag adoption anniversary amid anxious times. A sermon by Rev. O K Close at Second Presbyterian praised dry movement and urged strong action against alcohol.
The Reading Circle wrapped up its annual meetings with a formal program hosted by Mrs. J. S. Silvera and readings by Mrs. J. D. Chamberlin and Miss Clara Chamberlin. Refreshments followed as the program committee for next year was named. Separately, townspeople discussed curbside grass maintenance and a late 19th century theft case involving John Major’s bay horse, buggy, and two youths from Glen Mills School, who pleaded guilty and were sent to the reformatory after extradition from Wilkes-Barre.
Isaac L. Terhune of Berdine's Corner died at St Peter's hospital from injuries in a motorcycle crash. He was hurled over the handlebars after his machine struck an obstruction and it is believed he was run over by his own motorcycle.
