The Woman's Club gathered Wednesday with Mrs. Samuel Perrine for a New Year's party. Performances by Mrs. Clarence Perrine, Mrs. Harvey Dey, Mrs John Stonaker, and Mrs. Lewis Chamberlin Jr. included two sextettes and a reading by Mrs. Geo. B. Mershon. Wilson announced the engagement of her daughter Jeanette Elizabeth to Thomas Chester Hulst at a Princeton dinner. Hulst, formerly a Chevrolet salesman in Hightstown, will wed in Long Branch.

Early Tuesday George Benson living at Prospect Plains lit a kitchen fire and left. upon return the house was in flames. Hightstown welcomed its new Hightstown Trust Company with no ceremony as influential locals and top community figures opened the bank. The vault features high security, indirect lighting, limestone exterior, and rose bouquets from other banks. C Herbert Davison presides with Harvey Wyckoff, Henry Wikoff, and John West among officers and directors including Probasco Measler Conover Davison Gross Rue and Bennett. Mary Green dyke serves as bookkeeper. Separately George Gares was convicted of first degree murder in New Brunswick for the death of Theresa Kucharaki and sentenced to die in the week of February 5.

Funeral Attendee Injured In Cranbury Road Collision
Oscar Phares suffered severe injuries after what witnesses believe was a truck strike while driving from Jamesburg to fetch family for a Cranbury dance. He was found unconscious with hands stuck to the steering wheel, multiple teeth lost, and eleven stitches. valuables remained, suggesting no robbery. He received care from Dr. G. H. Franklin and lay recuperating at his Hightstown home.
