The C. E. Society of the First Church will meet Sunday evening to discuss why everyone should sign a temperance pledge. Leader is Charles Batcher.
At the second church annual meeting officers were elected: President Mrs Ella Stuke. vice president Mrs I D Barclay. secretaries Mrs F S Davis and Mrs G B Merehon. treasurers Mrs I S Everett and Mrs F A Brown. secretary of literature Mrs G W Burroughs. Organ repaired at First Presbyterian by Walter M Mohr of Louis F Mohr Co New York. Cashier Mershon injured his right arm in an automobile crank accident. Dr H C Bymmes attended.
A small chimney fire at Daniel Croshaw's house was extinguished by a Fire Company member using chemicals. Next Sabbath marks the centennial anniversary exercises of the First Presbyterian Church of Reading PA, with events February 16 to 18. Rev Adolus Allen of Peadry and Rev Dr Rudchil of Washington, former pastors, headline Monday's program.
Work is set to begin on the second church chapel repairs described as extensive. The plan includes memorial windows to honor departed loved ones who served in the school, hoping enough supporters will fund the windows to complete the project.
The Rev. and Mrs. William M. Curry mourn the death of their elder son Paul after a three week illness. Services chaired by Rev Dr Henry Collis Minton at First Presbyterian Church. Paul, a Trenton High School senior and Fourth Church Sunday School teacher, planned to enter Lafayette College. He survived by his parents and a seven year old brother William. In Newark, Miss Mabel Winner and James Clinton Matthews were quietly married at the bride’s home with a few close friends present.
Miss Allene RB Burtis of Trenton will wed Claude C Underwood of Weehawken in Central Baptist Church Trenton on Wednesday February 18. The Rev Guy Sn Brown will perform a quiet ceremony with relatives and close friends present. Burtis is Isabel Perrine's granddaughter and a skilled pianist.
Mr and Mrs Peter H Johnson and their family now reside at Cranbury Station and will relocate to their new home in Hightstown on February 23. All Jamesburg will attend church on Sunday February 22 with grand rallies, morning and evening, featuring special singing and sermons by the pastors. All are welcome.
The Ladies Reading Circle held a midwinter reception at First Presbyterian with red and white decor and flags for Lincoln's birthday. A bust of Lincoln, tropical plants, and red candle accents framed tables of fine china as guests enjoyed a multi act program and a supper starring turkey and cranberry sherbert.
The tiny ceremony at 56 Sylvan Street Rutherford New Jersey united Misa Nelle Geneva Farr daughter of Mr and Mrs B A Farr and John Girard Wentink under Rev Richard Earle Locke. Attendants included Mrs Clifford B Farr as matron of honor and Mr Clifford B Farr as best man. The couple will reside in New York City after a brief honeymoon.
The Corona Club will meet next Friday evening February 20 with Mr. and Mrs. William Gordon hosting.
A Saturday evening birthday gathering at Myra Egnor’s home featured her schoolmates with a planned surprise to celebrate her fifteenth birthday. Attendees included Matilda McDougall Grace Farr Margaret Applegate Imlay O’Neil Margaret Perrine Lucille Chamberlin Anna Applegate Mary Hutchinson Enid and Edna Walker and Myra Egnor.
Mrs. Anna Spaulding entertained last evening for her guest Miss Eleanor Eldridge of Trenton. The party enjoyed playing 500 with a list of guests including Mrs. E Barclay Mrs. G B Mershon Mrs. Fannie Van Derveer Mrs. E C Wilson Mrs. Baird Davison Mrs. Clifford Chamberlin Mrs. J J Bradley Miss Emma Ford Miss Clara Bergen Miss Bessie Bergen Miss Annie Voorhees Miss Marie Groves Miss Elva Chamberlin and Miss Mary Spaulding.

George Perrine Sr marked his 77th birthday with a family surprise party in Cranbury. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Perrine, Edwin Walker and Clara May, Willis Applegate and Margaret, Charles Dey and several Dey sisters, H D Reese, W E Grove and their children. Perrine is noted as Cranbury’s oldest soldier and a former member of the 9th Regiment New Jersey Volunteers. A fire supper followed the decorated cake bearing seventy seven flags.
A group of young people gathered Wednesday evening at Gideon and Mrs Applegate home to surprise their son George. Mr and Mrs Harry Perrine entertained a number of friends at 500 at their home Saturday evening Guests included Mr and Mrs Caroll Burtis and others from Allentown Somerville Jamesburg Cranbury and nearby towns Several couples shared the event with Mr and Mrs Perrine and Mr and Mrs LeRoy Scott.
Arthur E. Perrine and Mrs. Jane M P Dey issue invitations to an at home on Tuesday evening February 24 at six o'clock.
George Davey 35, an East Bangor pa man employed by a New York roofing firm, fell about forty feet from a Cranbury roof while working on Alvah Forman's house. He suffered multiple injuries including a fractured left elbow, a dislocated arm, a right arm fracture, wrist lacerations and shock. He was taken to St. Francis hospital after initial treatment by Dr. Titus.
The will of George R. Gordon of Hightstown who died leaving an estate worth about 12000 has been admitted to probate by Surrogate Bullock. The testator’s widow Mary E. Gordon is named executrix. The will leaves 1000 to the First M. E church of Hightstown and the remainder to the widow.
A bill by Mr Branegan of Hudson county proposes attaching a front device to each automobile carrying seventy two stall identification markers with the car number. The marker device would break on impact with a person or object, scattering markers to aid identifying the offending vehicle.
