The First Presbyterian Church will host Rev. Thomas Tyack D D of Hightstown for the Sunday morning sermon. The Second Presbyterian Church invites Rev. George B. Van Dyke of Moosic Pa to preach at the Sunday service.
Sunday School opens at 10 with preaching at 11 on the Good News. Sunday evening at 7 30 traffic for preaching on Folks and Fashions.
Cranbury defeated the Rosedale club 7 to 2 on Saturday. Tomorrow Cranbury will play Rocky Hill on the school grounds at 3 p.m.
Mrs 8 H Perrine and Miss Sara Perrine with Mrs G B Mershon began a Tuesday boat trip to Portland Maine. They were joined by Miss Emma Mershon who will return with them tonight.
The Lake View dairy cow sale on Thursday saw strong prices averaging about 80 dollars per cow with the top bid reaching 114.50 dollars for a single animal.
Dave Katz formerly of 8 E. Dey's garage has opened a new first class shop in Old Bridge. The new facility offers every convenience for autoists and will serve local motorists with full service and repairs.
The Samuel B. Mount farm of forty acres on the Hightstown Cranbury road in Mercer county was sold to Paul Nau of Brooklyn, a meat dealer, for his two sons. Mount lived there thirty years. his son John Mount still resides on the property. Possession will be given about December first.
The State and local health boards with cooperation of doctors and townspeople have worked this week to find the cause of the typhoid outbreak. There are at least twenty five acknowledged cases, with new ones breaking out daily. precautions are urged to protect others.
Mrs. Reid died Sunday after long illness at home near Cranbury Station. She leaves husband Aaron Ely Reid two daughters Mrs. Charles T. Hoffman of Cranbury and Miss Gila Reid and son Halsey Reid, all at home. Funeral was held Wednesday at her home with Rev. J. E. Curry officiating. Interment at Tennent under A. S. Cole, Son & Co. direction.
Thomas Titus, an elderly colored man near Plainsboro, died after a long illness on Saturday. He left six sons and one daughter after his wife’s death two years ago. His funeral was Tuesday morning with many white friends in attendance and burial at Brainerd cemetery.
Two committees from the Young People's Society and Universalist Church organize a Good Luck excursion during the State convention period. Hightstown Day, the first Sunday in September, will be run entirely by the assembly with a motor trip to Good Luck. Committee members include G. W. Romweber, chair. Miss Erma C. Reese. Miss Hazel M. Roszel. Miss Mary McKay. Mrs Keeler. and Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Conover.
The Methodist church reopened last Sunday with three services led by Rev. Z W Wells Rev C W Heisley Bishop Neely and Assemblyman James Hammond. Talks were eloquent and drew large crowds as the debt of 200 was reduced to 12. Ina Puerschner Cranbury and Grace Dey Dayton sang solos with choir and orchestra led by organist Mrs Harvey Dey.
Word from Washington confirms a city delivery service for Hightstown starting November 1. Postmaster Addison Robbins led efforts after earlier steps by Charles E. Stults to post street signs and by numbering houses. An inspector’s report approved the move. two carriers will be employed.
Frederick Oliver Mayor of 901 Quinton Avenue Trenton as executor of Robert Mayor and administrator of Mary Elizabeth Mayor sues the Central Railroad Company of New Jersey in Mercer Supreme Court for 35000 damages. Separate counts seek 10000 for Mrs Mayor’s death July 4 and 25000 for Mr Mayor’s death in a Farmingdale crossing crash that killed the couple and two children. The suit accuses the railroad of excessive speed and failure to signal.

Flames swept the Carlton Hotel a three story wooden structure in Asbury Park causing extensive damage. The blaze started by crossed electric wires drew a large crowd of spectators while volunteer crews from North Asbury Qusan Grove and Deal Beach battled the flames and saved adjoining buildings. Several women were hurried to safety as they lingered in rooms during the alarm.
Thousands of farmers from Monmouth Burlington Ocean Mercer and Middlesex Counties gathered at Manasquan on Big Sea Day. Lifeguards were doubled for swimmer safety and a suspicious refreshment booth was shut down after a patronage incident. A pickpocket report at about 8 pm prompted a purse theft complaint from a woman of Englishtown.
A warrant is out for Robert Delp former superintendent after $900 shortages in accounts at Hightstown Electric Light and Power Co. The new head, Mr Duncan, works to fix finances while police search for Delp. Delp 24 and recently married. All Delp household goods were attached to settle debts. Delp resigned after investigators found the shortage. Delp and his family traveled from Philadelphia to retrieve belongings but found none available.
