The Woman's Christian Temperance Union holds a meeting next Thursday August 13 with Mrs J J Bradley to discuss the best method of teaching the nature and effects of narcotics. A social hour follows.
The Woman's Home Missionary Society of the First Church meets in the chapel with the Alaska program led by Mrs. Clifford Conover. The Second Church society meets today with Mrs. H. J. Groves to discuss Cuba and Porto Rico.
Rev. C. B. Close of the New Jersey Anti-Saloon League spoke to the First Church congregation Sunday morning and addressed a large crowd at the Methodist Church Sunday evening.
Sunday morning in the Second Church a pretty quartet entitled Will there be light was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Maple of Trenton and Miss Hattie Lewis and W Russell Silvers.
Miss Florence Knox at Trenton Normal School planned a summer house party at her Lebanon New Jersey home. Sara Perrine is among about a dozen fellow students spending a week there.
Goodwins band furnished music for the Grangers excursion up the Hudson on Thursday. A Cranbury participant joined the trip and several local residents were noted among attendees including Mr and Mrs H J Butcher Mrs Jane Dey Isaac Cubb erly John B Perrine Redford Gulick and others.
Cranbury's senior ball team won a 3 to 2 victory over Michelin at Milltown on Saturday. The ladies and society of St James Church plan a lawn fete and dance at St James Hall Jamesburg on Saturday August 22 with supper at 5 and Crescent orchestra providing music and dancing through the evening.
The Cranbury Colored Giants will clash with the Helmetta Club tomorrow afternoon on the school grounds here. A collection will be taken for the benefit of the COG. Game called at 3 p.m. in the school yard. Large Meeting at Orchardside attracts about a thousand Horticultural Society members who praised the estate and heard addresses by Dr Headly and professors from New Brunswick and Trenton.

A group of about thirty Cranbury area boys traveled Monday to a camping site near Mantoloking under Rev. J. E. Curry Mrs Curry Symmes H Perrine and Samuel Perrine. The Cranbury Episcopal church boys joined in friendly games with the campers. In commemorating 50 years of the Rider-Moore & Stewart School of Trenton the principals F B Moore and J E Gill publish a 32 page brochure. It features 27 New Jersey bankers merchants and manufacturers whose combined wealth runs into millions and who employ thousands. They offer guidance to youth based on their experiences as graduates of the school.
The notice invites attendance at the New Jersey State College Farm Field Day and Dedication of the Agricultural Building on August 11 1914 with remarks by notable figures. It also reports Mrs John Addison Chamberlain of Hightstown carrying over 7000 in a corsage and details her court case against her husband. A separate feature marks Bell Telephone Companys new Trenton office site with a historic bronze tablet commemorating the 1776 Battle of Trenton and a found cannon ball on display.
The State Home for Girls seeks new sites for relocation. Board members argue the current site is too near the city. Considered parcels include the McGuire and Jones farms at Trenton Junction, the Burroughs and Cook properties at Ewing, and the Allan farm near Lawrenceville.
At the Middlesex County Board of Taxation annual meeting Clerk Harned reported bank stock tax returns under the new law. One half of the tax goes to the county treasury and the other half to the municipalities where banks are located. Cranbury shows taxables of 168,876.07 with total tax 1,262.98. Jamesburg reports 91,881.55 taxables and 685.36 in total tax.
