William Rowland Dead at 83 After Fall in New Brunswick
William Rowland of New Brunswick died at Spring Lake after a fall several days earlier. He was 83, long engaged in shipbuilding with offices in New York City, and funded Livingston Avenue Baptist Church’s house of worship. He is survived by two brothers, two children, and his wife Jane de Gay predeceased him.

The Burlington steamer of the Delaware River Transportation Company sank after striking a monster anchor in the channel near Perking. Captain Gray and the crew guided passengers to safety onto scows and shore with no loss of life. about 250 people were aboard and all escaped, though the crew lost their belongings.
