Church notices and events expand in April schedule

Several congregations announce sermons and topics for the coming Sundays. Highlights include First Presbyterian sermons by Rev. Edgar and Rev. Curry, Second Presbyterian topics on German atrocities and democracy, plus social and club meetings and a Kipling talk at the Baptist Church in Hights town. A Princeton Glee Club concert benefits the Red Cross.

Community Brotherhood Meeting and Red Cross Sale Ad

The Community Brotherhood convenes at Schultz Memorial Church Sunday at 3 PM with an address by Rev. D. W. Hollinger of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Trenton. A Red Cross food sale two weeks from today on April 26 offers a large assortment of eatables at popular prices.

J F F Club and Reading Circle Hosts and Benefit Concert

The J F F Club held its final season meeting at Mr and Mrs Henry Conovers and voted five dollars to the Princeton Chapter. The Reading Circle met with Miss Marie Groves as hostess and featured talks on weather bureau methods, rhyming jingle Forty signs of rain, Lincoln Highway, plus two piano duets. A Red Cross benefit concert is set for next Wednesday at Second Presbyterian Church with doors at 7 80 and concert at 8 00. no reserved seats, arrive early.

Meeting of Monmouth Presbytery in Spring Session

The Monmouth Presbytery met at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday April 9 with Rev. James A. Matheson elected Moderator after the sermon by retiring Moderator Rev. Arthur A. McKay. The gathering included Young Men's Christian Association members in uniform, licensures and ordinations, and reports on Wrightstown Church. The General Assembly commissioners and elders were named, a noon dinner served to 98 attendees, and the day closed with thanks to the First Church. The newsletter also notes a theater program and local club activities alongside war savings efforts.

Chimney Fire at H N Scott Residence Extinguished Quickly

Fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in a chimney at the house of H N Scott occupied by Mr and Mrs Clarence Thornton and Mr and Mrs John Owens. Fire Company arrived swiftly with chemical apparatus and water from a small hose, preventing a general alarm.

Red Cross Needs Women for Front Line Parcels Work

The Princeton Chapter calls Cranbury women to join the urgent Red Cross effort to produce Front Line Parcels of surgical dressings for U S troops in France. Volunteers will be trained in easy dressings with ongoing instruction, and afternoon work sessions are requested to meet this immense need.
