September School Reports Show Mixed Standings Across Divisions

Division I lists top students such as Lilian Jackson and Margaret Johnson with scores above 80 while several pupils fail to reach 50 percent. Division II records numerous enrollees and attendance notes with A Woodlands leading in Class 1 and 2. Division III and IV entries detail perfect attendance counts, quieter standings, and a continuation note on Page 3.

Police Commission Meets With Light Pending Business

The Police Commission held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday evening with little outstanding. The police chief reported month’s arrests and offences including intoxication and vagrancy. Other items noted include heating system installs, new typewriters at Fernie High, and obituaries for Thomas H. Sadler with funeral services held.

Cranbrook High School September Examinations Report

Cranbrook High School announces September examination results with no pass in all subjects in Junior Matriculation. Advanced Junior passes include Donald Morrison 77 percent and Havel Lithhocker 68 percent. Monthly tests and end of month results, plus parent cooperation, are urged for better learning standards. New Theatre Opens Doors to Public Monday Next

The service featured bridal march and flowers with a reception at the groom’s parents home. Gifts included silverware sets and carved glassware. Guests included relatives from Vancouver and local families. The couple will reside with the groom’s parents.

Candidates Will Soon Be Named For Dominion Election

Nominating events loom with the Dominion election set for late November and December. In East Kootenay several candidates from Liberal and Conservative camps are named with others from Labor and an Independent possible. Windermere figures hold interest as R Randolph Bruce eyes an Independent bid, while A M Chisholm may seek government nomination. Fernie remains a Labor focus if a candidate consolidates the vote.
