School Board Seeks Plans for Eight or Ten Room School
A Cranbrook school board meeting on Friday November 6 discussed building needs for a new eight to ten room school with an auditorium and cost options for brick or tile construction. Trustees Henderson Miles Gilroy and Jackson approved plans to contact the Department of Education and the mayor for sidewalks and building plans. The session also covered high school reports disciplinary matters and requests for intelligence testing materials. The board approved several payments totaling 5578.84 and noted building and safety item updates at Central School.

Armistice Ball at Cranbrook a big Legion success
The Cranbrook Legion Armistice ball drew an estimated four hundred fifty to five hundred guests from Cranbrook and Kimberley. The hall decorations formed a garden theme with red white and blue streamers. The McKay Orchestra provided music and refreshments were praised as the best in some time. Mrs. W. S. Johnston and Mr. T. M. R. Stewart led committees responsible for the event’s smooth running.

Memorial Decorated At Brief Armistice Hour Service
Memorial service at Cranbrook courthouse honored World War I sacrifice with a two minute silence led by Rev B H Wallace. Cranbrook Legion members marched from headquarters, joined by Central school children and teachers. Wreaths presented by local lodge representatives. Dr J H King gave remarks and Len Richardson sounded the Last Post.

Hope to Boost Y Membership Campaign Launched at Cranbrook
At a joint Y.M.C.A. and Gyro Club meeting in Cranbrook a membership drive was started aiming for 250 or more members. A planned $10,000 addition to the building would include a gym and pool, with equipment to be provided by Cranbrook residents. The drive drew about 100 men and featured a banker of civic support, with prior member counts ranging from 200 in 1910 to 168 this year.

Canadian Legion branches from East Kootenay met at Teglon headquarters Cranbrook to interview Hon Dr J H King minister of soldiers civil reestablishment. Delegates pressed for closer contact with the department and faster handling of pensioner matters. They proposed Armistice Day be observed as Thanksgiving Day and a provincial interior representative with Cranbrook headquarters to expedite urgent issues.
