A Column rails at lavish gifts by Andrew Carnegie as aiding a system taxing the masses. It notes his steel profits, tariff protection, and calls philanthropy a misplaced attempt at atonement. The piece also references De Wet, editorial associations, Vancouver teachers, Kaslo politics, and remarks on Harrison and editors.
A column promotes dress and colonial expansion citing Crown Tailoring in Toronto and urging Western resource development. It documents multiple land and mining notices dated March 1901 for James Mundie, W F Rowland, Joseph Furnier, Alex Taylor, and others in East Kootenay with licenses to prospect or cut lumber and coal.
