Big Hydraulic Monitors at Work on Wild Horse Creek
William Astor Drayton of New York heads the Wild Horse Gold Mining Syndicate Limited as two large hydraulic monitors operate on Wild Horse Creek near Mort Steele. The company plans a seven month season, with 12 miles of ditches and flumes and a move to three 10 inch monitors in a few years. Ground holdings include Invicta’s lower works, and Champion Gold Mining’s Boulder Creek leases. Drayton notes 40 years of potential operation, citing historic yields and the prospect of continuous future mining, plus acquisitions of Last Hope and Last Chance on Horse Thief Creek and a planned road up Paradise for shipment of high grade ore.
