Monument to Creston Pioneer Erected in Cemetery
A grey royal granite monument for the late Fred Little rises in Creston cemetery. Quarry work by Jas Wilson of Sir Dar with Major Mallandaine-Creston supervising. The ten foot shaft features Pioneer inscribed on a rough granite base and a fac ed plinth bearing the deceased’s name.

Long Auto Trip Through Canadian Rockies Draws Traffic Hope
A Herald representative reports that Carl E. McStay of the Automobile Club of Southern California expects this year's cross country trip from California to the Canadian Rockies to greatly exceed last season. He is gathering first hand road conditions from Windermere to Lake Louise via Banff and Yellowstone Park, sending nightly wires for club members. The club has 108000 members and 1100 employees with thirty offices statewide. Accompanying McStay are his wife and Elson family members. Elson is head of a Los Angeles printing company.

Amat Athletic Grounds Schedule For Sports
The Amateur Athletic Association releases a weekly schedule for games at their grounds. Monday features football, Tuesday lacrosse and softball, Wednesday open night and football, Thursday softball and lacrosse, Friday baseball, Saturday open night with matches by arrangement. Grounds are reserved for matched games and admissions require club permission. When a matched game runs, other branches must refrain from practice games unless allowed by the secretary.

Summer school for teachers opens early next month
Victoria announces a provincial summer school for certificated elementary and high school teachers from July 6 to August 7. Courses in rural science, manual training, home economics, health, penmanship, art, vocal music, civics, geography, English literature and reading, and teacher courses will be offered if at least six applicants apply. An elementary school with five divisions will operate at Victoria High School to demonstrate modern teaching methods.

Library Opens With Donated and Provincial Loon Books

Council Lowers Light Rates in City by By-law 258
A Monday council meeting approved By-law 258 to amend electric light rates. Power charges will be 44 percent per kW up to 1000 kW and 34 percent thereafter. A special Board of Trade delegation requested $500 for tourist grounds work and promotion, aiding city park completion. The council also authorized $1300 total for permanent park camping facilities, with $500 from the Board of Trade, and £80 to Mr Bridges for damages from Gold Creek overflow.
