Tragic Onboard Accident Kills J C McClung at Brooks
J C McClung, a Conductor George Evans crew member, died after an apparent attempt to board a passing freight car at Brooks station Sunday afternoon. Mangled by wheels, he died before aid arrived. He came from Virden Manitoba last summer, was laid off in winter, and had just been hired again. Remains sent to Virden for interment on No 2 train Monday evening.

Council approves Cranbrook Electric Light extension request
City council met last evening with Mayor Fink and Aldermen Johnson Hunt and Henderson present. A request from Cranbrook Electric Light for a one year extension from May 4 1909 was granted under conditions of the December 8 1908 contract. Streets lanes and yards must be cleaned by June 7. Accounts totaling 2085.76 were approved for payment. A special meeting is set for June 5.
